How It Works
Tilted Halo Services leases homes from owners and then subleases to individuals and families who are unable to get into a home on their own. These people have become marginalized for a variety of reasons:
- They are living paycheck to paycheck
- They are disabled, single parents, or have other limiting circumstances
- They are undereducated or underemployed and cannot afford market rent in Northern Colorado.
- They made poor choices in the past, and now simply and sincerely wish to leave the results of those choices behind.
- They have a prior conviction for which they have served their sentence and have completed, or are doing well on, probation/parole.
- They have had credit problems and are working on them.
- They have a previous eviction which was due to extenuating circumstances, and out of their control.
- They encountered a series of unfortunate events and need assistance getting back on their feet.
The people that we serve:
- Must be working full time (unless disabled)
- Must show the desire and drive to transform their lives and work toward self-sufficiency.
- Will be encouraged to work with Tilted Halo Services on reaching wellness and financial goals.
- Will contribute a small portion of their monthly earnings into an accruing tenant security account, which they will receive back when they move on in good standing.
- Will be required to serve a minimum of 4 hours of community service per month.
Most of our homes will be a home-share situation. Integrity and respect are of the utmost importance.
Utilities will be included in rent. If rent subsidies are needed, rent amount is determined using 40% adjusted monthly income.
Each adult tenant is vetted through background and credit checks, employment verification, and references. There is also an interview process which allows us to vet tenants based on their personal identity, values, experiences, and goals.
Tilted Halo Services will NOT rent to sex offenders, habitual criminals, or ANYONE we deem unsafe.
Tilted Halo Services is cooperating with the Real Estate Community and encouraging Social Impact Investing. We are asking Owners & Investors to partner with us for Win-Wins. By allowing Tilted Halo Services to manage your property, we can aid in transforming lives.
HOUSINGWe subsidize housing with Sponsors, Grants, Donations, Fundraisers. Rent is based on 40% AMI. Tenants must also commit 10% into a tenant security account. Moneys are returned to tenants at the end of a successful lease term. Initial lease terms will be 6 months; and considered trials. Thereafter, successful lessees will be reevaluated and may opt for extended terms. |
COMMUNITYWe are a community service resource and provide services to the community as requested. Community Service hours are required of tenants; to promote community involvement and the spiritual principle of serving. As a Non-Profit Organization We will also utilize other community service facilitators for Tilted Halo’s needs, and sign off on service hours. Email to Tiltedhaloservices@gmail.com
